Graveyard Flowers
Gentle gaurdian keeping secrets dark
Silent morners bent over tombs of grey
Veil of darkness breached by no mark
Soft weeping petals forever to stay
Beautiful company after life's touch
Swaying statues of remembrance
Embraced on earth by fragile clutch
Brillant flowers held in trance
Reaching out to touch their charge
Years pass still they task unwearily
They sway with infinite courage
Sentries facing inward militarily
These are the ways of graveyard flowers
Feeding on both kings and beggars alike
Until they rot and crumble
Until the living forget the dead
Until the dead forget the living
The flowers wilt in winter questioning purpose
The purpose to stand forever on legs so weak
With no one to bear their burden for a moment
All the weight and saddness placed on the smallest
The weight of the dead placed on the petals
The weight of our tears on the stems
Until there is no choice but to fall
Who will stand guard for the guardians
Watch over the dead of those who watch the dead
Silent morners bent over tombs of grey
Veil of darkness breached by no mark
Soft weeping petals forever to stay
Beautiful company after life's touch
Swaying statues of remembrance
Embraced on earth by fragile clutch
Brillant flowers held in trance
Reaching out to touch their charge
Years pass still they task unwearily
They sway with infinite courage
Sentries facing inward militarily
These are the ways of graveyard flowers
Feeding on both kings and beggars alike
Until they rot and crumble
Until the living forget the dead
Until the dead forget the living
The flowers wilt in winter questioning purpose
The purpose to stand forever on legs so weak
With no one to bear their burden for a moment
All the weight and saddness placed on the smallest
The weight of the dead placed on the petals
The weight of our tears on the stems
Until there is no choice but to fall
Who will stand guard for the guardians
Watch over the dead of those who watch the dead
