Elven Eyes part 1

"Hand over the damn pocketbook, bitch!"

The man in charge of this little fiasco held his hand gun sideways showing he didn't know how to hold a pistol. He was the leader because he did all the talking and he did all the posturing. Any insult to him was an insult on all the thugs standing behind him offering shouts of encouragement. The woman was afraid I could smell the fear off of her even from here but she was also beautiful. A gem. My draconian eyes flashed blue flames against the night as I peered down from the roof tops. The personality bubbling just under my thoughts recognized her as well. Someone he had seen before but was sure she did not know him. This man annoyed me to my core and I pushed him further down and away from my thoughts. He was weak and I was strong. She was something worth possessing. I leaped off the building towards the men and the woman who was giving over her bag with a shaking hand.

I spread my wings, or would have if I had wings. I cursed the body that I found myself in and reached out for a black cable just inside of my reach. It caught in my hand and I was held bouncing up and down for a moment before the cable broke on one end and I kept falling. Sparks now joined me in my fall towards the hard hard ground and the conscious below my own again reminded me of the limitations of the body I found myself in. Again I didn't care because now I was flying like I was once before. Instead of over mountains and oceans I was instead flying over the head of a weeping woman and seven very startled youths. In a shower of sparks I let go of the black cable and spread my arms wide as if this would slow me. It didn't but my knees catching the leader in the chest arrested my fall for just a moment as he and I went rolling as one against a brick wall. I got back up and he did not. The conscious of the man before me was screaming in fear but my own heart raced with the exhilaration of the hunt. The sixth remaining youths did not know what to do. They did not know that they should be running. I did not give them the opportunity to revise this mistake. I was on them before it really dawned on them the trouble they were in. Not the comfortable police ride to be booked for armed robbery, nor the childish games of turf warfare. A dragon was among them now! Claws gone, flames gone, teeth only white nubs where there were once curved blades the size and sharpness of tempered steel. These things did not make dragon! I show them what makes a dragon! The fury that becomes palpable in the air, they feel the heat of my intensity as I rush into the middle of them.

My foot lashes out connecting with a knee cap. My hands lash out finding throats and slapping aside hands filled with blades. I grab a wrist and stab flesh with the knife he is holding. His friend screams and the blood splashes out onto us. I drive the heel of my hand into his throat stifling the noise.

"You pathetic mortals sicken me!"
"What the fu..."

My knee finds a face and ends a sentence. There are no more words, only blood and the sounds of things breaking. When it is over I am smiling and they are all dead. My scales shudder in the pleasure of the hunt, rippling under the light of the full moon as I lean back to send fire bursting into the night air. And as sudden as the flames had boiled in my belly and as quickly as I had demolished these men. I was me again, just simple me. Not a dragon, just a man. Covered in blood, cold, and worst of all staring down the barrel of a rather larger pistol. The dragon slipped back inside of me leaving me to deal with my own problems.

"Not so big and bad now are you ese?"
"What? No, you don't understand."
"No, man you don't understand! I'm going to fucking kill you! Who do you think you fucking are!?"
"Nobody...just...please."

Clang! That's when the trash can lid caught him upside the head and his legs turned into pudding under his weight. The woman was standing where he had been a second before. Looking much less the damsel in distress and much more an amazon warrior standing over a very startled and confused man. Not sure whether to be aroused or very very scared.

"Thank you."
I honestly didn't realize she was talking to me until she said it again.
"Thank you!"
"Err... well, you're welcome."
"We should get out of here. Do you need a ride?"
Thinking for a second I realized I had no idea where I even was. After the dragon took over I found myself running into the night with wild abandon with no sense to check street signs or pay attention to where I was going.
"Yeah, that would be nice."
"My name is Maria"
"Mine is Terrance."
